THE NAME OF THE LORD–A STRONG TOWER (Pt. One)

As the high tower is the safest place of a city under attack, so is the Lord the safest place to find security in a world that is attacked by sin. (Ps 61:3)

The name of God represents His power and describes the attributes of His character, especially as being revealed to us. The very name of God in the Old Testament Scriptures is the revelation of God. The name of the Lord is the power and force upon which the entire Universe rests. It is through His great name that we triumph over our enemies (44:5; 54:1; 118:10-12), so we should always call on His name for help (116:4,13,17). To remember His name is to encourage our hearts to trust Him, obey Him, and not be afraid. "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, LORD [Yahweh], have not forsaken those who seek You" (9:10, NKJV).

A STRONG TOWER

In Pro. 18: 10, The name of the Lord is described as a strong tower,

A tower is a place built for shelter and security, a fortified fortress. God's name is called a strong tower. A strong tower was considered, under the ancient system of warfare, to be a place of entire security from harm, this text therefore, is a figurative way of expressing the great importance of putting our whole trust in God. Ps 61:3-4 For you have been a refuge for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings.

THE PACKAGES CONTAINED IN THE STRONG TOWER

The packages of the strong tower includes God’s wisdom, power, goodness, His covenant of grace , with its glorious provisions and extensive promises which are all engaged for the protection of His people. Here the righteous find safety in times of danger, and comfort in times of trouble. Confidence and Faith in times of self- doubt and confusion, miraculous provision in times of dare need and wants, healing in times of sickness, strong and enduring heart in times of persecution and disappointment, safety and escape in times of danger. Throughout your journey this year, you will need this name. He will provide safety that’s not available through any other source. Safety from evil thoughts and associates. Wherever you go, whatever you do, never you depart from the name of the Lord. The name of the Lord is a strong Tower, the righteous run into it and he’s safe.
