There is one danger, prevalent and still spreading like wild fire in the society today, I would like all my readers to notice and avoid it like a plague. Jesus Christ of Nazareth was able to avoid the very same danger because He lived by the principles of reality and truth, based on the scriptures. We live in an age when almost everyone wants to rule, dominate and legislate over others, in various areas of life. Most people have big visions and dreams. People across all the strata of society nurture great goals. Those things which were categorized as luxuries in the past are fast becoming necessities today. This necessitates the urge to find ways of making sufficient money to be able to afford the comfort of modern life. However, as you go all out in search of ‘’career success’’ and life fulfillment, there is a serious need to beware of the danger of being led astray by the glamor of the moment, at the detriment of eternal purpose.
God’s word teaches us not to allow our hearts to be influenced by the glamor of the moment but rather by the judgment of eternity. It’s good to pray and aim for material blessings, high positions and great wealth and so on, but this should be placed in its proper place.
For every child of God, material blessings should remain what the Bible calls them – additions. It should be understood that material blessings are given in trust by God, to propagate the mission of Christ; to carry out and finance the divine project – SOULWINNING! Instead, how do we use wealth today? We use wealth to further complicate life by attempting to raise individual and family life standard, to accomplish our dreams and fantasies.
People easily fall into this trap set by Satan, through incessant exhibition of fake life of luxury as is often seen in movies, news, musical videos etc. God’s warning is clear in this regard….…Do not set your hearts on the things of the earth…
Col 3:2-3 set your minds on things above, not on earthly things Col 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above. Concern Yourself With The Judgment Of Eternity.
The more things you have, the less you actually have. Your job is a perfect ploy to enslave, block and waste your life if you’re not working with Christ and living for His purpose. Guard your heart against the fake glamour Satan is offering people at the cost of their souls.
The Apostle John says, if you love the world, the love of the father is not in you. Jesus says, “No one can serve two masters, it’s either he will hate one and love the other” You cannot serve God and money’’. Matt. 6:24
“If you love the word, it will pass away and take you with it, therefore Since, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, not on earthly things Col 3:1 May the Lord through His abundant grace, empower you to obey this divine instruction. May you obtain total victory over all satanic deception concerning the passing world, and its corruptible glory.
Just as Jesus rejected the fake glory of this world when it was promised to Him by Satan on Temple top, but gained the heavenly glory at the right hand of the father; may you choose and gain heavenly glory in Jesus name. Amen. Yours in His Fold,
Dr. Lawrence Owoyemi
